Thinleaf Alder.White alder. Alnus incana. Seeds.
A popular tree in the Nordic countryside.
Ballistic wood is mainly used for the preparation of chips and fuels, less for containers, fiber and slab production, charcoal cooking, meat and fish smoking.
Grows perfectly in damp places, often those where other trees are difficult to grow. Very modest.
Medium or large ( 8-20 m) birch tree. The skin is smooth, light grey. Male and female flowers are separated on the same tree. Wreath wide. Buds stalked. Bloom before the leaves flourish.
Blossoms in late March and April, seeds spilling out in October.
A bit like black greed (A. glutinosa). Distinguishable by light grey smooth bark (not dark, creased). The tip of the page is pointy (not sloppy or Snape), the bottom of the page is grayly edgy (for black-eager, both sides of the page are green and bare).
Fits perfectly in a big backyard, like a mood maker. With the wind, the leaves creak calmly.
3 seeds per pack.
