The crown is wide and almost reaches the ground. The bark is dark gray, almost black, smooth.

Flowers appear after the tree is completely leafless. The seeds have wings, which are initially red. They are 3-4 cm long. The wings are connected at a narrow angle and have hairs. Very decorative.
