Golden rain tree is a medium-sized deciduous tree, can reach a height of 10-20 m.
Blooms in July, August. The flowers are small, yellow, arranged in panicles, the panicles are about 30 cm long, from which in the fall peculiar pods are formed, in which the pea-sized, black seeds ripen. At first the pods are green, then reddish, finally brown. The seeds ripen in September, October.
Slow-growing tree. Tolerates polluted air well. In autumn the leaves turn very bright orange. Undemanding in terms of soil. Likes evenly moist soils, full sunlight.
Can withstand frost, up to - 25 degrees, but if it freezes it can suffer from fungal diseases. It does not tolerate strong winds.
Sowing: Seeds require stratification in the refrigerator, which lasts 3 months. Then the seeds are planted in pots in May, as they germinate quickly and there is a risk of freezing of the new shoots at the first spring frosts.
