Green juniper berries - many know purple juniper berries, but they are second year berries. The green ones are first-year berries, characterized by flavors that bind to citrus, eucalyptus, estragon and basil. Green juniper berries can be laid in soups, smoothies, salads and ice creams. You can make salt from them to use in other dishes. Berries are crushed together with salt and used as desired.

Juniper is a plant that grows in poor soils, fire pits, mountain slopes, old pastures. In the north, it is grown as a decorative and medicinal plant, as well as a spice plant.
Perennial, always green, bush or tree 5-20 m high. Trunk diameter 30-100 cm.
New coniferous leaves are 5-10 cm, later decomposing, becoming short (2-4 mm), sharp, twisted.
The cones are 3 to 7 cm long, covered in blue flesh, so resemble berries. They contain 1-4 seeds.
Sowing:
Soak the seeds in hot water for 24 hours.
Mix with wet vermiculite or sterile sand, place in an airtight bag and stratify for 90-120 days.
Check periodically for mould or drought.
After stratification, sown in soil which must be permanently wet but not wet.
Germinate at room temperature in a well ventilated place, away from the draught and direct sunshine.
You can also sow seeds into the prepared soil in the autumn. In this case, stratification is not required. Mulch, protect against rodents. The seeds sprout in spring or early summer. Do not let the soil dry, protect against direct sunshine.
