This beautiful spruce grows in the north of North America.
Evergreen coniferous tree, 15-56 m high. In the north it usually grows to a height of 25 m. Trunk diameter 45-120 cm. The tree can live up to 250 years.
Frost-resistant. Can grow on various soils, but fertile, moderately moist ones are better. Grows in sunny places and partial shade.
Bark thin, grayish-brown, flaky or scabrous. Shoots quite firm, light pinkish-brown, glabrous.
Cones, green in summer, but light brown when mature.
Seeds can be sown in autumn, and stratified naturally, but can be sown in spring, soaked for 24 hours in water and then kept in a moist substrate for 30 days.
