Buddleja is a magnificent or evergreen shrub. Butterflies and bees love this shrub very much, it looks very decorative in the garden. It grows in streams.

In cold winters, even in the western regions of Latvia, it freezes or freezes badly, so it is rarely found in our gardens. This shrub is a great decoration in every garden. If the shrub is covered in winter, it will overwinter.

The shrub grows strongly, it has long young shoots, on which flower buds form. The colorful fragrant flowers are arranged in long drooping or erect panicles.

In autumn, the shrub should be pruned and lightly covered. It should not be allowed to dry out under the snow in winter. – The plant is more afraid of drying out than of cold! It has been observed that buddleia plants die when planted under 80 cm of snow, whereas in unheated plastic greenhouses, their seedlings in containers are not frozen, and all above-ground parts are alive. Buddleia seedlings are more resistant, but they also do not like moisture under the snow. Therefore, in autumn, when frost begins and the root ball is covered, care must be taken to ensure that precipitation moisture does not soak into the bush.

Sown plants begin to bloom in the 3rd year.

Blooms from July to October.

Seeds for seedlings are sown from March to April.

The plants are planted at a distance of 100 cm from each other.

Buddleia grows up to 2 m in height under favorable conditions.
