Leafy cabbage. Kale cabbage. Seeds.
A healthy and interesting kale that will fit perfectly into both a flower bed and among vegetables. Kale consists only of leaves, which mostly have beautiful crinkled edges. It can be grown both as a food plant and as an ornamental plant in beds in group plantings or as a solitary plant. Cabbage in the garden and in the bed retains its beauty even after frost, and even in winter. It is very tasty for deer and other forest animals.
Kale (kale, keil) is superior to spinach in terms of composition. It contains more iron than meat, more calcium than milk. It also contains unsaturated fatty acids omega-3 and other valuable substances. Kale also contains sulforaphane - a substance that protects the body from tumors.
Kale is grown just like regular cabbage. The top grows all the time, and the leaves are edible until frost. And even in a warm winter, they retain their beautiful leaves.
Cabbage is sown in early spring. In early May, they can be safely put out in the garden, because they are not afraid of frost.
For cabbage, the lower leaves are collected, allowing the tops to grow further. In late autumn, when there is less light, the lower leaves of the cabbage begin to die off, but it continues to grow.
Kale is suitable for making chips, soups, salads, pesto, pancakes, omelets. Before using in green smoothies, stews, blanch the leaves for a few minutes. For fresh salads, the green part of the leaves is cut off or torn from the stems, because they are bitter. Before using, it is recommended to wrinkle the leaves in your hands until they darken - then they will be softer and more valuable.
Kale cabbage is tall (80 cm), curly leaves, especially frost-resistant, high yield.
Can be sown from May to June, in a sunny place, immediately in a bed 2–3 cm deep. Then thin out, leaving about 50 cm between each other..
